A Coloboma Disorders Of The Eye

A coloboma is a term describing the holes found on the structures of the eye, such as the lens of the eye, eyelid, iris, retina, choroid, disc or optikus. This hole has been there since birth and may be caused by the distance between two structures in the eye. Strukturini failed to close before the baby was born. A coloboma can occur in one or both eyes.

Kloboma affects the view, depending on the severity according to the size and location. For example, if only a small portion of the iris is broken, the view might just be normal. But if it happens on the retina or optic nerve, then the patient will look broken and most of the field of view will be lost. Sometimes the eye can shrink or mikroftalmos, and even the patient may suffer from eye diseases such as glaucoma.

Some children who suffer a coloboma can have malformations on the part of his body, as was the case in CHARGE syndrome.
